Dogs between 16 weeks and 9 months of age on the date of the trial are eligible to compete in the Puppy Aptitude Test (PAT). The PAT for each sport offers young dogs the chance to gain valuable experience by competing on modified versions of the Level I course. This test is pass or fail, and a title is earned by passing just once. Puppies may continue to compete in PAT even after earning their title, providing ongoing opportunities for growth and development. The Puppy Aptitude Test title is available in the following NASDA sports:

• Lost Item Recovery
• Shed Dog
• Trailing & Locating
• Urban Locating

The PAT title is replaced by the Level I title once the Level I title is earned.
