The supervising Judge of Record should allow you room to judge, but they remain responsible for providing appropriate supervision.

They may intervene when necessary for:

• Dog safety.
• Quarry safety or welfare.
• Exhibitor safety.
• Rule compliance.
• Fairness.
• Significant scoring or procedural errors.
• Course compliance.
• The integrity of the trial.

An intervention is also an educational opportunity.

After the immediate situation has been resolved, discuss:

What happened?

What did you observe?

Why was intervention necessary?

Which rule applied?

What should you recognize or do differently next time?
