Supervised does not mean you are expected to know everything.

You are still an apprentice.

There will be situations where consulting the Judge of Record is entirely appropriate—particularly when safety, quarry welfare, rule interpretation, or trial integrity may be involved.

The important distinction is that supervised judging should not become:

The apprentice asks what to do → the Judge of Record makes every decision → the apprentice records the answer.

That is still shadowing.

Supervised judging should increasingly look like:

The apprentice observes → evaluates → makes or proposes the decision → the Judge of Record provides oversight and feedback.
