What is the Invitational?

The NASDA Invitational Championship is the pinnacle event of the North American Sport Dog Association calendar, bringing together the top scent work teams from across North America. This elite-level competition is designed to test the skills, drive, and teamwork of dogs and handlers at the highest level of NASDA sports.

🎯 Purpose

The Invitational honors teams who have demonstrated exceptional performance throughout the qualifying year across four NASDA sports: Lost Item Recovery, Shed Dog, Trailing & Locating, and Urban Locating.

It serves as a true showcase of excellence and versatility in real-world scent detection challenges, with elevated search difficulty, unique search environments, and national-level recognition.


🧾 Invitational Eligibility

Teams are invited to compete based on their performance during the qualifying year. Eligible teams include:

  • Top 25 placings in each class during the qualifying period
  • First through Fourth Place at the Regional Championship in that sport
  • Regional Champions (advance directly to the final round of their sport)
  • Top 50 Versatility Dogs
  • Top 25 Junior Handlers
  • Top 20% of Showcase competitors in each class
