NASDA is hosting four test trials for the new Urban Locating Challenge classes on March 24 & 25, 2022 in Minden, NV.

What is a test event?  We host test events to evaluate the rules outlines, challenges and overall performance of new classes.  As a result, the rules are typically a short outline and all other NASDA rules pertaining to Urban Locating apply.  Points are earned toward titles and rankings at these events.  Rules will be available before each trial.  A minimum of 100 points from Level I is required to earn a title.  Each class has its own title track.

These classes are based on the NASDA Urban League program that was suspended during COVID when it was unsafe to meet.  Each challenge focuses on a different element of Urban Locating, such as encouraging independent searching with distance, tackling distraction challenges while the handler makes the call, working inaccessible or elevated hides.   The Urban Locating Challenge classes have progressive levels through championships.  We have also added the Urban Versatility titles for dogs earning the Urban Locating and Challenge titles at each level.

Searches for all levels are conducted blind.  Only one set up of each class is available.  Handlers with more than one day may have someone else handle other dogs.

Classes are open to all dogs eligible to compete in Urban Locating I.

Clubs wishing to add Urban Challenge classes to their trials:  Clubs must have hosted at least 3 trials with approved results, be in good standing with NASDA and have an eligible judge to apply to add the Urban Challenge classes starting April 1, 2022.  All clubs in good standing will be eligible to host Urban Challenge classes starting June 1, 2022.  Urban Challenge classes may be offered stand alone or in conjunction with other NASDA classes.
